Non-Profit Disaster Relief Company is Seeking a Project Engineer/Building Code Specialist in the Tampa, FL Area!
The Project Engineer / Building Code Specialist will provide engineering analysis and assistance for projects aimed at reducing losses that result from natural disasters. Manages selected engineering department projects.

|
The Project Engineer / Building Code Specialist must have the following Skills and/or Experience:
Professional Engineering registration or Engineer-in-Training (EIT).
Specialty in Structural Engineering. MS in Civil Engineering or related field; or BS in Civil Engineering or related field plus two to four years related experience and/or training.
Experience in building design/construction desirable.
Knowledge of Internet software and Project Management software.
Working knowledge of all Microsoft products including Word, Excel and Access.
Travel demands are variable and can approach 20% to 25% of time during certain times of the year.
The Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Project Engineer / Building Code Specialist include but are not limited to the following:
Prepares or directs development and modification of reports, presentations, specifications, plans and design for projects.
Assists in development of project, scheduling, budgeting, and coordination between the company's staff and outside vendors.
Provides timely reports on progress of projects.
Attends and participates in the deliberations and actions of various codes and standards committees as directed.
Monitors technical issues in the model building code development processes, and analyzes technical issues associated with code change proposals from the standpoint of natural disaster mitigation. Assists Senior Management in developing testimony for or against said proposals as necessary.
Assists in the development of proposed changes to building codes and other construction standards that enhance the protection of buildings and their occupants from natural disasters. Assists senior staff in defending said proposals as necessary.
Keeps abreast of developments in construction materials, designs and techniques that potentially affect natural disaster mitigation. Attend symposiums, trade shows, and continuing education seminars as necessary to accomplish this. Provides analyses of said materials and techniques, from the standpoint of natural disaster mitigation, as requested by the company's member companies.
Provides staff support to the company's member-driven committees as assigned.
Provides technical services to the Communications Department, as necessary, for technical development or revision of the company's documents.
Assists in development of the company's training and educational products.
Performs plan reviews and inspections on homes being built under the Fortified...for safer living program in cases where none of the company's certified "Fortified Inspectors" are available.
