We are Searching for an Experienced Medical Nurse Manager!
The Medical Nurse Manager serves as a clinical resource, clinical expert and consultant to nursing personnel on the unit in patient planning and the overall management of quality patient care. The Medical Nurse Manager is responsible for staff orientation, staff development, and staff competencies (initial and on-going), coordination of staffing while on duty and for completion of the schedule. The Medical Nurse Manager must demonstrate effective leadership skills and supports the nursing department's philosophy, objectives, and vision for empowered nursing practice and assist in short and long range planning for the nursing unit and department. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to respond to specific issues and data reflective of the patient/customer's status. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the population served in the department.

The Requirements of the Medical Nurse Manager are as Follows:
Baccalaureate degree in nursing required...Masters preferred.
Graduation from an approved or accredited school of nursing.
Must be licensed to practice in the state of South Dakota.
Must have certifications in CPR, ABI (Aggressive Behavior Interventions), TNCC (Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Provider), Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support.
Minimum of 3 years clinical experience.
The Responsibilities of the Medical Nurse Manager are as Follows:
Demonstrates ability to perform all essential job functions of Registered nurses.
Demonstrates ability to plan, direct and coordinate the work flow of the unit.
Monitors patient care and unit processes to assure safe, customer focused approach.
Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with individuals, groups, and community.
Maintains clinical competency and projects high standards of performance expectations from personnel on the unit.
Shares knowledge with staff and serves as role model.
Assures implementation and compliance of current policies and procedures.
Mentors and counsels staff frequently; develops employee action plans to improve performance.
Coordinates and maintains appropriate staffing levels.
Monitors and analyzes unit specific performance improvement data; develop indicators for review.
Facilitates collaborative relationships between nurses and other disciplines.
Monitors and evaluates staff performance.
Participates in strategic planning for the Department of Nursing.
Provides input for budget preparation; monitors expenses, develops plan of action to correct variances.
Establishes departmental policies and procedures, scope of care, performance improvement activities, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
Participates in the selection, training, evaluating, initiating, and recommending personnel actions.
Promote and maintain an environment that is in compliance with state, federal, and regulatory requirements.
Assumes 24 hour responsibility and accountability for the outcome of nursing care delivered on the unit.
