The General Manager is responsible for executing the organization’s strategic plans within his/her operational area as directed by the EVP of Customer Solutions and COO. The incumbent is responsible for the leadership, direction and management of the assigned area including: overall financial management, support and monitoring of program activity to ensure compliance with contractual specifications, general reporting functions, employee relations, resource allocation and for utilizing approaches that enhance profitability, productivity and efficiency throughout the division’s operating units. He/she will act as the management interface for the company and its funding source with the goal of positioning the company as a trusted, sound provider of training and educational services.

Responsibilities:    
The Requirements of the General Manager are as Follows:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field and four (4) years experience in an operational leadership role or public sector (government funded) market; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A solid understanding of the government contracting process on local, state and federal levels is strongly preferred; functional area skills/experience is required.
  • Occupational Skills - Must possess experience with Vocational Training with a solid understanding of job placement and programmatic knowledge of OJT and work experience.
  • Strategic focus and the ability to predict trends, define desired outcomes and create executable plans for achievement of corporate level goals is required along with a proven track record of building and managing training and program delivery teams.
  • Strong understanding of finance and accounting concepts and process orientation: Must have strong program management skills including budgeting and cost estimating; proposal writing, contract management and business development activities.
  • Detail oriented, logical, and methodological approach to problem solving; ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals and technical procedures; perform advanced mathematical calculations; evaluate complex problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills and the ability to provide leadership, supervision and training using positive supervisory techniques to ensure maximum productivity; demonstrated ability in organization and delegation skills.
  • Current driver’s license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Exceptional oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, interpret documents, understand procedures and write reports. The incumbent must possess the ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations and continually demonstrate poise, tact and diplomacy.

    The Qualifications of the General Manager are as Follows:
  • The General Manager participates in formulating long term goals and objectives to meet business and profitability growth objectives; regularly reviews analyses of activities, costs, operations and forecast data to determine area/program progress against established goals and objectives.
  • He/she advises and directs staff regarding strategic business issues that impact the overall operations; investigates and introduces process improvement measures; utilizes management methodologies that generate greater profitability and increase efficiencies; and reviews and proposes new and innovative approaches that position the company as the provider of choice for
    training and educational programs.
  • The incumbent monitors performance measures that are tailored to the program and develops operational goals for each functional area that are aggressive, yet obtainable and tied to the long-term goals of the company. He/she monitors area/program performance against goals to ensure progress is being made and corrective action, if necessary, is taken.
  • The General Manager leads by example and adapts his/her management style to achieve optimum results. He/she models the values, behaviors and practices that create a positive work environment; promotes teamwork and fosters morale through effective and constructive communication; supports, encourages and fosters intelligent risk-taking and innovative ideas to build a leadership team capable of carrying out operation strategies, maintaining positive employee relations and possess a passion for continuous improvement.
  • When needed he/she takes corrective/disciplinary action in a timely manner and in accordance with company policy. The incumbent routinely consults with the Executive Director of Human Resources to ensure actions are equitable and consistent with all federal, state and local laws, as well as company policies and procedures.
  • He/she is actively involved in the development, review and implementation of production efficiencies, financial reporting, budgetary planning and submittal for program expenditures; collaborates with finance department and Business Development to prepare annual budgets and contract agreements.
  • The General Manager conducts rigorous, systematic analysis of contract performance; reviews monthly and annual financial statements making correction as needed; keeps immediate supervisor apprised of progress and challenges.
  • The position maintains solid business relationships; prospects and identifies contacts throughout the assigned market area which provides funding for student involvement in the company programs. This includes but is not limited to reimbursement programs, military departments, government agencies and local associations. Develops and maintains strong working relationships with state authorities, community contacts andcorporate personnel.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
